Replacing an E104 Wired Sensor

Installation Equipment & Safety Considerations

Equipment Required

  • Ladder for ceiling access

  • Safety goggles

  • Philips head screwdriver (optional)

  • Wrench for tightening nuts (optional)

Safety Considerations

  • Sensor Mounting: Ensure every sensor is mounted securely.  Make sure that screws/nuts are properly tightened and that nothing is loose on the sensor.

  • Safety Radius: Ensure no individual is positioned directly beneath or within a 6-foot radius of the servicing location.

  • Eye Protection: Ensure all participants wear safety goggles during installation in case of falling dust to avoid eye damage

  • Ladder Safety: Follow standard ladder safety precautions:

    1) Always install with a spotter.

    2) Use the ladder only on a stable, even surface.

    3) Never stand above the recommended rung indicated in the ladder safety guidelines.

Replacement Steps

  1. Locate the sensor on the floor plan.

  2. Detach the device from the mounting plate. Each sensor is snapped into place and may require unclipping each of the four corners individually. (Note: The mounting plate will remain installed in ceiling.)

  3. Disconnect the ethernet cable from the device.

  4. Select a new sensor for installation.

  5. Record the 6-digit ID of the new sensor in the designated location/tool (spreadsheet, VergeSense platform, other)

  6. Connect the ethernet cable to the new sensor.
  7. Align and attach the sensor to the mounting plate using the snapping mechanisms.
  8. Ensure the sensor is securely attached to the mounting plate.

LED Indicator

After installing the new sensor, the front-facing LED will indicate the device’s status:

  • Slow Blink: The sensor is on but not connected.

  • Fast blink: The sensor is on, but a fault has been detected (e.g., invalid data transfer).

  • Solid Light: The sensor is on and successfully connected.
