Introduction
VergeSense has developed an Excel tool that allows users to create a layout of suggested hardware locations and counts on a customer's floor plan. Download the Excel template here and find instructions below for how to use the Excel template.
Excel Template
Use the provided Excel template to:

Add Sensors

Add Gateways
-
Add Space Coverages
-
Calculate Device Count

Generate a PDF copy
Instructions

Once downloaded, open the document in Excel

Select Enable Macros
Uploading a Floor Plan

Select Review in the menu and Unprotect Sheet
-
Right click existing floor plan
-
Change picture to the new floor plan
-
Note: Only JPG and PNG formats can be imported
Adding Devices

Use the existing sensor icons from the sensor bank on the right

Select the sensor icon while holding both the control/command key

Drag to duplicate. Press Escape to deselect the new sensor

Delete any icons not used so they are not included in the total count
Add Space Coverages

Use the colored square icons below the sensor bank on the right

Select the square icon while holding both control/command key
-
Drag to duplicate. Press Escape to deselect the new square
-
Scale the coverage square to shade the space captured by the sensor
-
Drag to duplicate. Press Escape to deselect the new square
Gateway Coverage Tool
Use the gateway coverage tool to determine how many gateways will need to be installed on the floor.

L302 gateway has a 40' range

L302 sensors have a 40' range
Sensor Coverage Tool
Use the sensor coverage tool to determine how many sensors will be needed in a large space such as a meeting room or cafe.

Scale 3' marker to match doorway width

The average ceiling height is 9' (2.5m)

Sensor coverage at this height is 15' (4.5m) x 18' (5.5m)
Calculate Device Count

Select the Sensor Count button

Verify the counts automatically update
Generate PDF

Select the Mac or Windows PDF button. This will generate a PDF with the following file name format: AccountName-Floor_#-Sensors_#-Threshold_#-Gateways_#.pdf
