Getting Started

Prerequisites for Integration

Before activating the WiFi Occupancy integration, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • A supported network provider (Cisco Spaces, Cisco Meraki, or HPE Aruba)
  • Administrator access to both the VergeSense platform and your network provider’s dashboard
  • Floorplans with access points (APs) mapped in the provider dashboard (required for neighborhood-level insights)

Activating the WiFi Integration

Integration can be completed in a few minutes and requires no hardware installation. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Cisco Spaces App Center with admin credentials
  2. Locate the VergeSense partner app (VergeSense or VergeSense+ depending on license)
  3. Authorize the application using SSO or MFA, as required
  4. Select which buildings to activate for WiFi data

Once connected, WiFi data will begin populating in the VergeSense platform within 1 business day.

Choosing Buildings for Coverage

You do not need to activate WiFi data for all buildings. During setup, you can select specific buildings that align with your goals (e.g., pilot programs or high-priority locations).

SSID Filtering and Map Configuration

Admins can filter which WiFi networks (SSIDs) contribute to the VergeSense platform:

  • SSID selection occurs in VergeSense under integration settings
  • Only available for buildings linked via VergeSense+ integration
  • Floorplans must be accurately mapped to APs for neighborhood-level data

How to Know the Integration is Working

Once active, you will see:

  • A WiFi Service icon next to building and floor data in VergeSense dashboards
  • The VergeSense app listed as active in your Cisco Spaces App Center

If WiFi person count data is unavailable, double-check floorplan mapping, admin credentials, or integration status in the VergeSense platform.
