Where WiFi Data Appears in the Dashboard

Once activated, WiFi data seamlessly integrates into your existing VergeSense dashboards. It is used to power person count metrics at the building, floor, and (if configured) neighborhood level.

  • A WiFi icon will indicate where WiFi data is being used instead of sensor data.
  • Dashboards clearly differentiate between data sourced from WiFi, Entryway Sensors, or Area Sensors.

People Count: Peak vs. Average

VergeSense provides two primary people count metrics powered by WiFi data:

  • Peak Person Count: The maximum number of individuals connected to WiFi during a given period. Useful for understanding demand surges and space constraints.
  • Average Person Count: The average number of individuals connected over a time period. Helps assess overall occupancy trends.

These metrics are available for buildings, floors, and eligible neighborhoods.

Weekly Snapshots and Trends Over Time

Weekly occupancy snapshots help workplace teams:

  • Track how usage changes across days of the week
  • Compare peak and average occupancies over time
  • Spot evolving patterns that may affect space planning

You can view this data as:

  • Single-week snapshots (with daily granularity)
  • Multi-week averages to smooth out anomalies and inform strategy

Heatmaps: Visualizing Usage Across Time and Space

Heatmaps visualize how space is being used based on WiFi connectivity trends. They provide a quick, intuitive way to:

  • Identify consistently busy or underused zones
  • Visualize temporal patterns in space usage
  • Support decisions for neighborhood planning or reallocation

Note: Heatmaps are more informative at the floor or building level. For high-accuracy visualizations of small zones or rooms, VergeSense recommends using Area Sensors in combination with WiFi data.

Images and examples coming soon to illustrate these views within the VergeSense platform.
