One-Way Hashing and PII Handling

VergeSense uses one-way hashing to ensure that no personally identifiable information (PII) is accessible or stored.

  • PII like MAC addresses and user IDs is hashed immediately upon ingestion
  • Data is never stored in raw or readable format
  • Once hashed, data cannot be reverse-engineered

This guarantees a secure and anonymous process that protects user privacy.

VergeSense Access and Data Protection

VergeSense does not store or access unprocessed PII. All processing occurs before data is written to disk:

  • No unencrypted PII ever enters VergeSense storage
  • Only anonymized metrics are analyzed for occupancy insights
  • Data use is strictly limited to occupancy analytics

Cisco-Side Privacy Configurations

Customers using Cisco Spaces have the option to hash data before it reaches VergeSense:

  • Hashing at the Cisco level may affect other integrations
  • Recommended for customers with high internal privacy standards

Customers can choose to enable this setting, but should confirm the implications with their IT and security teams.

Compliance and IT Assurance

The VergeSense platform is built to align with enterprise-grade security and privacy standards:

  • Validated Cisco partner
  • Uses Cisco-approved APIs with no direct access to WiFi infrastructure
  • Fully compliant with GDPR and related regulations
  • Uses SHA-256 hashing with salt to protect all sensitive data

This architecture provides peace of mind for IT, InfoSec, and workplace teams alike.
