Predictive Demand Forecasting

Predictive Planning now shows a dynamic demand forecast beyond today, replacing the previous flat
purple line with a forecast curve driven by your organization's actual historical occupancy data.

This means you can now see where demand is heading in the weeks and months ahead, helping you make
smarter decisions about space allocation, risk thresholds, and planning scenarios.

beyond today, showing projected demand alongside your shortage and surplus risk thresholds.

How It Works

The forecast is generated by analyzing your organization's historic demand data and projecting it forward. As of April 2026, the model mirrors past patterns into the future. Upcoming improvements will add more sophistication, including:
  • Seasonality adjustments
  • Day-of-week nuances
  • Self-service badge data file upload (for users without historic sensor data)

Who Can Access Predictive Demand?

Access to the demand forecast depends on the data available for your organization. There are three scenarios:

Scenario Requirement Experience
VergeSense sensors 95% area sensor coverage  + at least 1
year of measured data
 Full dynamic forecast curve
Badge data providedHourly badge data file submitted to
VergeSense
 Full dynamic forecast curve
No data available No sensor or badge data provided Flat line forecast (legacy
experience)
Note: A full year of measured data is currently required to display the non-flat forecast. Support for
forecasting from limited data is actively in development.

Setup

If you have sufficient sensor coverage or are providing badge data, the forecast will appear automatically. In order to unlock the ability to create events and scenarios:
  • Complete the Demand Config module: this information powers the event modeling and ensures
    forecasts reflect your planning assumptions.
  • No changes needed in Edit Floor: capacity settings work as before.
  • Check your Risk Thresholds page: your capacity and thresholds will now reflect simulated and measured spaces combined.

What this means for your planning

With predictive demand, you get higher-fidelity visibility into future space needs, making it easier to right-size floors, plan for headcount shifts, and model scenarios with confidence. No more planning against a flat assumption. Your forecasts now move with your organization.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if I'm not a VergeSense customer or don't have enough sensor coverage? You can provide a hourly badge data file to power your forecast. Submit this to the VergeSense team and
we'll upload it on your behalf. A self-service upload feature is currently in development.
  • What if we can't share badge or sensor data? If no occupancy data is provided, you'll continue to see the flat line forecast — the same legacy experience
    as before. No action needed.
  • Does this change anything in Floor Management? No. Floor Management works exactly as it did before. Custom and default capacity behaviors are
    unchanged.
  • Do I need to set a custom capacity for simulated floors? Not unless you want to. If you leave the Capacity field blank in Edit Floor, Predictive Planning will still display the correct capacity figures automatically by rolling up all measured and simulated spaces.
