L410 Orientation Guide

Overview

Proper sensor orientation ensures your L410 captures the full area of the desk or space it's monitoring. This guide walks you through how to physically orient the sensor on-site based on the layout of your space.

Before You Start

Familiarize yourself with two key parts of the L410:

  1. PIR sensor - the small circular element on one end of the device
  2. Camera lens - positioned in the center of the device

These two points form an imaginary axis that determines the sensor's orientation. Think of it as an arrow running from the PIR sensor, through the camera lens, and out the other side. This is the direction the sensor is "pointing."

How to Orient the Sensor

The arrow points toward the narrow end of the sensor's field of view, while the wide end runs perpendicular to it and covers more area.

As shown in the table below, an arrow pointing right will correctly cover a desk or table that runs long vertically, while an arrow pointing down will correctly cover one that runs long horizontally.

Note: arrows pointing left or right result in the same coverage, and arrows pointing up or down result in the same coverage.

Space Layout How to Orient the Sensor
Desk or table is longer top-to-bottom Point the PIR-to-lens arrow left or right (toward the short sides)
Desk or table is longer left-to-right Point the PIR-to-lens arrow up or down (toward the short ends)

Verifying Your Orientation on the Dashboard

On the dashboard, the sensor icon displays an arrow that should match the needed installation orientation on-site as shown in the screenshot above. This can be a helpful reference if a sensor needs to be replaced and the original orientation is unknown. Simply match the physical orientation of the sensor to the arrow shown on the dashboard.
